Review of the H4 Hotel in Frankfurt, Germany (August 2024)

During a recent staycation in Frankfurt, Germany, we opted for a four-night stay at the H4 Frankfurt Messe, selected for its affordability, strategic location for day trips, and the availability of rooms with private balconies. Below is a detailed and impartial review of our experience.

Pros:

Sofa Bed for Children: The room featured a convenient sofa bed, providing comfortable sleeping arrangements for our children, which added value to our stay.

Affordability: At EUR 315 for four nights, the hotel offered a budget-friendly option without compromising on essential amenities.

Breakfast Options: Breakfast was available for an additional fee of EUR 20 per adult, with children eating for free—a great perk for families.

On-Site Parking: The hotel provided on-site parking, which, although at an additional cost, was a useful convenience.

Private Balcony: A private balcony was a key feature that met our desire for an outdoor space to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Cons:

Room Layout: Despite the listing photos suggesting a partitioned sleeping area, our room did not include this feature, which was a bit misleading.

Parking Fees and Charging Facilities: The on-site parking fee was EUR 15 per day, and the parking was uncovered. Additionally, the electric vehicle charging station was outdated, and we were directed to use a Chargy station at a nearby Lidl instead. As a cost-saving measure, we opted to park across the street for free.

Lack of In-Room Amenities: The absence of a mini-fridge or microwave in the room was inconvenient. We had to rely on the reception staff to store and reheat our leftovers, which was not ideal.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, the H4 Frankfurt Messe offers good value for money, particularly for families. Its location is convenient, with a 10-15 minute drive to downtown Frankfurt, making it an excellent base for exploring the city. The presence of many other families during our stay suggests that it is a popular choice for those seeking affordable and family-friendly accommodations. Despite a few drawbacks, we would consider staying here again, given the reasonable price and practical location.
