What has helped the most with raising 3rd culture kids

Becoming comfortable with being uncomfortable.

I’ve said “I don’t know” so many times since we’ve immigrated from Florida to Luxembourg.

⭐️ I don’t know the local customs.
💫 I don’t know the holidays.
🌟 I don’t know the language.
✨ I don’t know the history.

A few times we even got up early and went through our entire morning routine just to arrive at school with the doors locked and the lights off. It was an official holiday and we had no idea.

I’m recently read “Raising Good Humans” by Hunter Clarke-Fields and just started “Third Culture Kids” by Pollock, Van Reken, and Pollock.

I am well aware this is uncharted territory for me - not only as a parent, but also as an immigrant. Some of these items I can fix easier than others. I can study the language and the local commune offers courses in governance, country history, and culture.

Some will take more time, but for now, I am learning how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.
